About me!

Hi there! My name is Isabelle (Izzy) McCarthy, and I have been a horse enthusiast my whole life. I have participated in High School Rodeo, FFA, and competitive barrel racing. More recently I have been focusing on English riding and jumping.

I am from Las Vegas, NV where my love of horses took off! I have been taking lessons since I was a toddler and got my very first green horse, Sedona, when I was 10.

Sedona taught me many things such as there are multiple ways to teach a horse, and a bond between rider and horse is unbreakable. When I was 12 we moved to Texas where my passion for barrel racing excelled. While competing I eventually made my way to Texas Region 9 of High School Rodeo. We were on our way to making state, but unfortunately Sedona was injured. I decided to retire her due to Navicular and got my second horse, Ginger, when I was 16.

Ginger was not a green horse, but she is an off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB) that required a lot of patience and confidence building. I didn’t have her very long before we moved to Oregon where I decided to change course and get into English and jumping! I have been riding English for several years now and am currently learning the basics of jumping.

Jumping has been on hold for several months as I finished my associate's degree in Animal Technology: Horse Management. During my studies I took part in Linn Benton Community Colleges reproduction program where I bred Ginger to an Irish Draught stallion. Ginger is expecting to foal soon, and I will be training her foal for eventing.
